As the electric vehicle (EV) industry continues to grow, the need for standardized, interoperable charging solutions becomes increasingly critical. That’s why we’re delighted to announce our membership in the Open Charge Alliance (OCA), a global organization dedicated to promoting open standards in EV charging infrastructure.
Why eMabler joined the OCA
Even though eMabler has been part of the TC69 in IEC for several years, we are happy to see that OCPP has officially achieved international standard status under the IEC.
The OCA is at the forefront of developing and implementing the Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP). By joining this alliance, we gain direct influence over the future direction of these open standards, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the industry.
The Open Charge Alliance (OCA) proposed OCPP 2.0.1 as a candidate for standardization, and as of March 2024, OCPP has been published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) as an official international standard (IEC 63110-2).
This is a major step forward for global interoperability in EV charging.
